Why is my PC fans spinning but not booting

My PC fans start up but then it doesn't boot or display at all. I have checked the cpu and no pins are bent and I have reset the cmos. What else could be causing this issue?

Does the hard drive light flash? If so try another monitor or TV.

Hi @mrcrextor ,

What is the make and model number of the computer or the motherboard if a custom build?

Hi I've got the same problem however when ever I take out the cmos battery and reset bios it goes on but I have to do this every time I try and switch my pc on I bought 3 batteries and the problem still persists and I fear that I might be damaging the pc evertime I do this as from the first time strange things started happening for example my pc cuts out all of a sudden when playing games but then plays fine at times I'm afraid to use my pc as I don't know what the problem is and don't want to damage my pc further in need of some expertise

Could be a number of things causing it first I start off with connections.

Try reseating the power supply cables going into the motherboard make sure it's seated in fully.

Also try reseating the ram sticks and if there is a graphics card installed try reseating that as well.

Does the CMOS battery plug into a socket or is it held in a battery holder i.e. spring on bottom of battery holder and other connector around the side of the battery?

If a holder check that the springs are exerting enough tension on the battery by gently, stress gently levering them up a bit so that when pushed down by the battery they are making for a firmer contact.

If they appear to be OK or if it is a plug and socket type battery connection then there may be a faulty connection between the CMOS battery terminals on the motherboard and the CMOS IC. You would need the schematics of the motherboard to trace this further.
