Certain keys on keyboard not working F6 4 7 = a s d [ k l ;

Suddenly certain keys on the keyboard have stopped working:            F6    4     7     =     a      s     d    [    k    l    and    ;

(I have hooked up a Bluetooth keyboard to type this)

I have:

  • Turned off, removed battery, held power switch down for > 1 minute - then rebooted - no change
  • Gone into NetBios using F10, done a keyboard test - it fails
  • I have uninstalled and reinstalled the keyboard druivers - no effect.

If possible, can somebody at least confirm if this is a motherboard or software problem. I already replaced the keyboard without success.

Hi ,

Try using a USB keyboard and check what happens.

Was any liquid spilled on the keyboard area at all that may have got through to the motherboard?

Hi,

No liquid spilled.

USB keyboard works fine, that is how I am working for now.

Hi,

Since you have replaced the keyboard (was there a new keyboard cable with it?) and the keyboard diagnostic test still fails and an external keyboard works OK, it appears as though there is a problem with the keyboard controller on the motherboard.
