Why is my camera taking black pictures?

I got my camera (a D3500) about a year and a half ago. It has worked fine up until this point but it has suddenly started taking completely black pictures, even though I can still see perfectly through the viewfinder. The first photo attached is what all photos I try to take look like. The second photo is what the screen looks like when I switch to live view. I was just wondering if you would have any idea what is wrong with it and how it could be fixed, if possible because I have no idea. Thank you!

Amber Brady this could possibly be a stuck shutter or a failed image sensor. Start with this:

1.Take the lens off

2.Turn the camera on, put into manual mode

3.Set exposure to 30 seconds

4.Take photo while observing the stuck shutter curtain

5.During the 30 second exposure hold the camera in one hand and give hard thump to the base of the camera with your other hand.

6.Repeat this a few times until you see the shutter opening

If that does not work you will have to disassemble your camera to get to the image sensor and replace it.

Thank you so much for your answer! I am not really that confident with cameras so I'm currently looking through the user manual trying to figure out how to do this because I've googled it and no results are coming up but I'll figure it out.

I think the issue may be the sensor but I will try this anyway.

Thanks again :)
