prohibition symbol on Mac flashes then apple logo & eventually starts

So I’m having trouble with a late 2011 MacBook Pro; Model 1278, the hard drive went out so I decided to upgrade and got Crucial MX500 250GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - CT250MX500SSD1Z and I put 16 gs of ram from OWC. Now I did have to replace the Hard Drive Connector since the old one was also bad. Made a USB bootable installer for High Sierra and used disk utility to get the New SSD ready for a clean instal by erasing everything. (MacOs Extended (journaled) ).

Instal the High Sierra in to the SSD like normal then the Mac restarted (eventually) but i was getting this prohibitory symbol flashing then the apple logo and so forth until if eventually started.

I did try to redo everything; erase the drive and all that for another clean install but still got the same result. HELP!

I think you have a simple problem here. A common issue in the 2011 and 2012 McBook Pro’s is the HDD SATA drive cable which can get damaged by rubbing on the rough aluminum uppercase surface. In addition the original cable was not rated for the faster SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) drives, and SSD’s push the limits of the SATA channel. here’s the needed cable MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable and yes! This is the 2012 model cable which is the better cable and fits!

Here’s a bit more Your Hard Drive Cable Is A Ticking Time Bomb

The last pice of the puzzle is making sure you don’t damage the cable when you put it in. A common issue I see is people tend to crease the cable with a sharp fold where the cable needs to bend around a corner. This damages the fragile foil wires within the cable. I use an old BIC ball point pen ink straw as a brake to shape the cable around it so the cable has a nice arc. Basically, the radius of the straw is as far as you want to bend the cable.

Even after this you should make a fresh backup and then reformat the drive and install a fresh copy of the OS to remove any corruptions.

I did try to address this issue when I was upgrading "have to replace the Hard Drive Connector since the old one was also bad" I used this one of amazon.

HDD SSD SATA Hard Drive Connector for MacBook Pro 13" A1278 MacBookPro8,1 Early 2011: MC700LL/A MC724LL/A Late 2011: MD313LL/A MD314LL/A

which appeared to be the right size for my model, but I'll just give the one you recommend a try, hopefully this resolves the problem.
