Discs spin and don’t read

Hi,

I recently replaced a faulty lens in my PS3 slim, and the discs still are not playing. Neither cds/DVD’s nor Blu ray will play. The discs spin a couple times, the screen shows the “spooling” image up in the corner, but after a few attempts stops without working.

What are the next steps to try? The previous laser (the on I replaced) would read cd/DVDs but not Blu-ray, which is why I replaced it.

I also replaced the 45-pin cable, which had a burnt spot on it. Is it possible I put the cable in incorrectly? Can the drive even function if the cable is not properly installed? I matched the alignment to the old cable, so I’m pretty sure that’s not the problem.

I don’t want to change the alignment of the cable in case it causes some kind of short. What are my options here?
