iPhone 4 Verizon dock connector differences between white and black

I have a white 32gb verizon iphone 4. One of the pins on the dock connector looks burned. Everything still works, but I cannot sync the device. I want to replace the dock connector. Do you have replacement parts for the white iphone? Are the dock connectors on the black and white the same? I know the color is different because my dock connector is white.

Since the burn damage may have damaged the logicboard, I'd inspect that before you spend too much money on the phone. If you find out the problem is isolated to the connector and the board survived, then there should be no problem with just replacing the connector.

If the motherboard didn't survive, you're probably better off getting a new phone. New boards are very expensive and used boards are a gamble in terms of usability; this isn't a problem with a new phone.

While it is possible to do a bare replacement with solder, it's a difficult thing to do. The connector is inexpensive so it really isn't worth the effort (or gamble) to reuse the old assembly. Even then, this is an advanced soldering job.

I just ordered the complete dock connector. Hopefully I will be able to use the "installing iphone 4 verizon dock connector guide." I doesn't look like I will have to solder anything. On a side note: The burn on the connector looks like it is coming from pin 15 or 16. Those are usb ground and main ground. I am able to connect my phone to my computer and view the pictures, but the itunes cannot reconize the phone. If I use "ifunbox" to view the iphone, it says it is not able to initialize mobile apple service. I will update when I get a chance to do the swap.
