I don’t know what setting phone was in when screen went black one night. I can hear alerts, vibration sound, rings, but can’t open to answer or call out. Tried touching every inch of screen but impossible to hit lucky spot.

This could be a screen issue or board issue. You should try another screen first if that doesn’t fix the problem it will be a backlight issue on the logic board that will need to be repaired by phone repair business that offers microsoldering.
