Series Acer Aspire 5349/Aspire 5749/Aspire 5749 Z

Are the NTBs the same (they differ from the installed CPU from the factory) They have a CPU in the G2 socket. It is therefore possible to install a Sandy Bridge CPU for socket G2. Max CPU by performance class: Celeron B840, Pentium B980, Core i3-2370M, Core i5-2540M, Core i7-2640M, Core i7-2960XM. BUT I RECOMMEND TO OBSERVE TPD 35W for CPU considering the cooling performance. Therefore, the "most powerful" is the Core i7-2640M.

And one more note. Acer recommended 8GB of RAM for these notebooks, but all CPUs and motherboard chipsets support 16GB of RAM.

If you have the original CPU or a CPU upgrade, you can fit DDR3 SODIMM 2 x 8GB RAM and you have 16GB RAM.

Hi,

You cannot upgrade the CPU in the laptop as it is hard mounted onto the motherboard.

Here’s a video that shows how to disassemble the laptop which is useful because you can see at the 7.29 minute mark into the video (also from 9.29 onwards) that the CPU is not removable.

If you wish to improve the laptop’s performance you can upgrade the RAM to 8GB and replace the HDD with a SSD

Here’s a couple of links that may help with that.

@Aleksandra Hribernik ,

What is the full model number of your laptop?

by

Acer Aspire B815/2/320

by

@Aleksandra Hribernik ,

You have given the model number of the CPU. It is a Celeron B815/2/320.

What is necessary is the model number of the laptop. This should be on a label under the laptop in even in the BIOS

Here is a list of compatible (usable) Sandy Bridge CPUs for the G2 socket for the Acer Aspire 5349, 5749, 5749Z and their use is not blocked by the bios (by Acer).

There are still a few Sandy Bridge CPUs for the G2 socket, but they already have a TPD of more than 35W, and I don't know of anyone who has tried them, so I don't recommend using CPUs other than those listed.

Hi

You have the Acer Aspire 5349 so the answer above also applies to your laptop.

All Acer Aspire 5349 models are the same in that the CPU is hard mounted onto the motherboard and cannot be replaced.

by

how come i could removed it then from the socket?

by

@Aleksandra Hribernik

OK then I was wrong. Apologies

So was it held in by a screw?

What information is written on the CPU?

If you know the CPU full model number you can find out what socket type the CPU fits into so then you may be able to find out what other CPUs will fit into the socket.

This doesn't mean that they will work because it also depends on whether the motherboard, chipset or BIOS will also support it.

If you find a better CPU that is compatible with the socket, then all you can do is try it and see
