use a butter knife to pry it loose along the edges. It snaps back into place when finished.
A hair dryer or heat gun helps when trying to remove the old glass and tape.
You can also bake the front panel assembly in an oven; 175 F seems to work OK. But then there are more places to burn yourself when it comes out...
In either case, you want to have the front panel detached so that you aren't cooking sensitive electronic components.
I don't know the iPad front glass, but it probably with the HP TouchPad, which has its own digitizer -- I doubt they're pin-for-pin compatible.
