Fan belt jumped of pulleys

2000 e-150 4.2 v6,61k on it. I got the belt off and looked at the pulleys. I found that the automatic belt tensioner pulley seemed froze and also tried to do counter clock wise and bring it back off tension and it wouldn’t move either. A littel w-d and got it working. my question is should I replace the whole mechanism or can I just replace the pulley by itself? also I guess I should replace the idler pulley since I’m in there. Thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Yes replace the complete tensioner assembly. And it couldn't hurt to replace the idler pulley while you are doing it. You should also check the belt at the same time. It might be better off to replace it also.

Thanks so much for your advice, Yeah the pulley is bad on the tensioner, now its a matter of getting the bolt unfrozen on the unit itself.

Yes get new belt, tensioner and idler.

WD-40 isn’t a lubricant its a water displacer.

A good lube/solvent is 75% automatic transmission fluid with 25% Acetone.

PB Blaster works, Zep 45 works, Liquid Wrench works too.
