LCD connector won't click in?

I have recently replaced the LCD and screen on my 8 GB ipod Touch... I have almost done it but having a problem connecting the LCD connector back together.

Should this easily click in? Has anyone else had the same problem? Is it because it;s so tiny and fiddly?

Appricate your help

Thanks

this is one of the most annoying LCD connections.. it's pretty difficult to get at. I found that if I put one finger over the volume button connectors on the left to stop me pulling the logicboard off, it gave me more leverage to see and get that LCD connector on. You can then feel the pop when it's on and see it is on.

I thought that would be the case... just a fiddly job.

I will have another bash at it before I take it to the shop and they charge a fortune. they wanted £90 to fix the screen... I bought one on ebay for £24.99 and everything gone well till now. Thanks for your help!

It should click in but not necessarily with a "click" sound. Be very, very careful when pushing on the connector because you can easily bend one of the pins on the logic board connector.

The clue is of course to check if the LCD and touch screen works before putting back the mid plane. What a stress to have to open up the Touch again because the connectors were not in place. I usually buy original LCD/touchscreen assembly for ca. $40. I have tried too many unoriginal parts. Too often now I check that the parts work and then assemble the mid plane and attach the LCD connector only to get a white screen (of death). I really have no idea why this happens. Anybody else experience this? A full reinstall does not help either which usually fixes this problem on iPhones (white screen after assembly).

Always check the connections on the LCD and digitizer... I have had old connector pieces in a (new) screen that caused damage to the motherboard. China will send defects back out as new. I always mark my returns with marker to help keep that fraud from happening (small steps).

Is it possible to bend it back? If you broke the pin you are out of luck and need to replace the connector with soldering. Not for the faint of heart!
