Is my Cinema HD display dead?

Hey guys,

I managed to obtain a 30” Cinema Display for free and I would like to connect it to my MacBook Pro. However, I want to make sure it isn’t broken before I spend a lot of money on adapters to make it work. I have te correct power supply and the necessary cables to plug it in to wall power, but unfortunately no Mac to connect it to just yet.

The thing that concerns me however, is that there is no light turning on when I plug it in. Is this normal? I don’t know if it needs video input to turn on, but I feel like I should at least see a sign of life when it’s plugged in. Maybe I’m wrong, but I just want to make sure. The previous owner said it worked but it has been moved around a bit to get it to my house, so that might’ve killed it.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Right? But nobody seems to be able to confirm it though.
