slow data transfer speed

Western Digital My Passport Studio

An external drive with USB 2.0 and Firewire 400/800 interfaces. Comes in capacities between 320 GB and 1 TB.

I have a old my passport studio was a mac one

It sort of stopped working a while back but now it seems to work but connection is very slow

the firewire800 port used to be quick but now is extremely slow

did the diagnostic test and both failed

Options

Drives do wear out! I have two of these. One died I ended up placing a SSD into the case as is such a sturdy case.

You do want to carefully copy off anything important before you can’t any more.
