MacBook Pro not turning on?

Hello!

I have a MacBook Pro A1707

It’s a 15inch with touchbar I believe mid 2016-2017

I just replaced the battery and it won’t cut on at all.

I went out and bought a brand new charger and it still won’t cut on

No lights, no fans, nothing at all.

Ive already tried multiple things like Cntrl + Option + Shift, power button.

Any ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Who's battery did you use and did you follow the iFixit guide?

by

I used one off Amazon, I can get the name of it if you’d like. And yes I followed the guide

by

Did you happen to find out what went wrong? I am having the same issue.

@Misty I. - did you replace the battery yet? MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar Late 2016 Battery Replacement

by

@Dan - yes, I did. It started to work after I waited for about an hour. I am not sure if it's because my motherboard was somehow drained or had a very low power as I worked on it. I spent several hours since I also replaced both speakers and struggled with the glue.

If the issue began when you replaced the battery, then the problem may be the battery itself or damage that occurred while replacing it. Try reopening the MacBook and looking for physical damage.

The fact that the battery light doesn’t appear is a clue that the battery is the problem, though.

Shouldn’t it still turn on though without the battery if it’s plugged in?

Also it was having issues before I replaced the battery, that’s why I replaced it. I believe it said replace soon or something like that, and it wouldn’t charge and when I looked, one of the cells were swollen, then I replaced it

@am0960 If it won't turn on with both a new battery and a new charging cord, the problem may be with a motherboard component. Hopefully the swollen battery didn't damage anything, but if it did, the main circuit board may need servicing.

Have you tried to open it up and look for signs of corrosion or anything? I had my computer sit for a while, and this was the culprit. Ended up taking it into the Apple store, they removed my hard drive, then I bought a SATA-USB cord to get what I had off it.

Yes, when I replaced the battery I had to unplug a lot of things and take everything apart. There was no corrosion.
