Home button not working after screen repair

I replaced my screen successfully and kept the same home button. All worked fine when testing before I physically popped the display back into the back frame, but when I did that the home button stopped working completely. No Touch ID and it doesn’t respond to touch.

I think I must’ve broken or knocked a part when reseating the screen. I’ve taken the button apart again and reseated the connectors but had no luck.

The casing has a slight dent at the bottom by the lightning charger so I had to use more force than normal to get it in, that’s probably why it broke!

Incidentally I also reseated my speaker & the device that measures light slightly incorrectly which I’ll fix or replace when I open the phone up again - I’m sure this is not related but just in case it is.

It sounds like you have damaged the home button flex. The one coming off the screen that connects to the logic board. Check around the 90 degree bend you might need a magnifying glass but I suspect you will find a microscopic tear. You will need to replace your screen again.
