How is a blank screen fixed

I have tried the two suggestions always given for this issue; using the home and sleep/wake buttoms simultaneously and restoring in iTunes. Neither fixes has worked. Any other suggestiomns would be welcome.

Phone powers on just no display? Vibrate works etc? What happened before you got the black screen?

by

I think it is powering on, I have heard email alert and the chirp sound it makes when first taking a charge. It is not reconzed by Bluetooh or iTunes though, and the ringer on the phone does not sound.

As far as what preceed this well I think I may have caused the issue by shutting down the automatic screen shut off, I put it on never and didn’t go back and reinstate the auto shut down. The screen also exhibits a transulcent (whiteish) shadow on the upper right side of the screen on an otherwise blank (black screen).

Thanks for your intrest.

have you tried plugging phone in to wall charger for 1 hour? sometimes when the battery is too flat it looks dead and itunes won't see the iphone

by

Yes I have tried charging it for an hour or more, no luck there. Do you know if the battery can die completely and not take a charge. Nonetheless it seems as if I am off to the Apple store in the morning, it is the only phone I have and its not comfortable not having a phone.

I have been retracing the past few days and I now suspect water damage, especially after I opend the case and found water droplets therein. I have decided to open it up and try the drying technique solutions found here, starting with placing it in a bag of rice.

Try holding the power & home buttons at the same time for 30 to 45 seconds. You should then see the apple logo and your phone will turn on.

Thanks Jimmy but I have previously tried that fix, and a restore neither has fixed the problem.
