chuck that is easily removable, but I cannot figure how to take it ap

I disassembled the tool. There's a separate section with the chuck that is easily removable, but I cannot figure how to take it apart... and I repair stuff all the time. So here I am.

It looks as if something is clogging the slots in the collet, preventing it from gripping... if I could get it apart, I could clean it.

Answer this question I have this problem too

The Collet Nut simply unscrews, and the Collet gets pulled straight out.

If you are talking about the small chuck that screws onto the front, I’m not sure these come apart. These are not that expensive, so buy a new one. If you can wait, they are $2 on eBay from China. Search for “Dremel Keyless Chuck” The treads on the front of a Dremel or B&D are the same.
