Keyboard somehow goes to sleep.

The actual model i have is HP x2 10-P000NE but this is very very similar to that. My keyboard frequently just stops working or just goes to sleep and to “wake” it, I have to either press the shift key or i have to detach the keyboard and attach it back again. And at times it’s as if the shift key is being held down permanently so its all caps and to get rid of that I have to open the on screen keyboard and press shift there(shift key flickers on the on screen keyboard). What’s going on?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Try plugging in a USB keyboard and check if it happens when using it.

It works like that...that's how I use it right now....I use a wireless keyboard with the laptop hooked to a monitor.

Hi,

Check the power management properties of the keyboard in Device Manager.

Go to Device Manager (if Win 10, right click on Windows Start button left side of Taskbar and select Device Manager) scroll down and find Keyboard click on the > to expand the list and then right click on the keyboard entry and select Properties > Power Management.

Make sure that the checkbox next to Allow the computer to turn of this device to save power is unchecked. Click OK then exit Device Manager.

Here’s an image to show what it may look like in your laptop.

It shows that option but it is unchecked and grayed out.

Hi,

Have any liquids etc been spilled on the keyboard?

Try uninstalling the keyboard in Device Manager (right click on keyboard entry > uninstall device) and then restart the laptop and let Windows 'find" it again in case it is a corrupted driver etc.

Other than that you may have to open the laptop and check the keyboard cable connection to the docking board. See p.45 in the service manual

I've provided a link to the service manual in the other question about storage and memory that you asked so I assume that you have seen it as you didn't respond to that one
