seems to have a defective power port.

It seems the power port is defective. I have tested the charger on another laptop and purchased a new battery that works, so have to assume it’s the port. Is it part of the motherboard or a separate item?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @edwardw10 ,

Here’s a link to the hardware maintenance manual for a HP Pavilion 15-ab243cl laptop, taken from this webpage

Scroll to p.69 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove / replace the Power connector cable.

Disconnect the cable from the motherboard and then use an Ohmmeter to check the wires for continuity from the socket through to the cable connector plug.

If it is determined that the cable is faulty then you’ll find the spare part numbers at the top of the same page in the manual.

Search online using the part number only to find suppliers of the part.
