Convert MacBook Pro 13” Late 2012 Retina screen into external monitor

I have a late 2012 13” MacBook Pro that I want to convert into an external portable monitor because my logic board is damaged. Does anyone know what are the exact details of the parts I’ll need? I understand I’ll need some kind of controller board (but what kind?). Also, is there a way to connect the existing MacBook Pro battery to the display to power (& charge) it? My macbook logic board is damaged so I cannot charge it but the battery is perfect.

Answer this question I have this problem too

@antoxyg it might be possible that there is an LCD driver board for your LCD panel. To make that determination you will need the information about your panel. Usually this info is contained on the sticker attached to the panel. once you know who makes it and what the exact model is you can do a search for the right LCD board.

To use your existing battery to power this “monitor” will be tougher since your battery contains a control board that under normal circumstances receives feedback from the logic board. Without this feedback your battery may not be functioning. That would be a bridge to cross once you know that there are LCD driver boards available. Look through this guide Universal LCD driver Technique about the general idea about it.
