How to reset communications on a 3D Systems Projet 860 Pro 3d printer

I have a 3D Systems Projet 860 Pro 3d printer and the machine is not booting correctly because of a communications error. I have reloaded the firmware but it defaults to a legacy mode setting and fails to get to the online status, How do I reset/fix the on board computer to allow the machine to boot up and go online.
