iPhone 8 battery replaced and won’t charge.

This phone is cursed… so first out I replaced the screen a few months back, and then the home button stopped working, so replace it with an aftermarket one, home button worked fine while phone was open, but as soon as closed it it didn’t, after some answer form help, I replaced the screen put the original button back work everything was good.

Now the customer has brought it back for a battery replacement, replaced battery now it won’t charge, battery logo/symbol shows when the charger is connected but usb amp doesn’t show any draw.

Tried few chargers all the same, tested chargers with different phones. Just this phone won’t work. Even connected the old battery but still not charging, only thing difference on the iPhone 8 and the last one the battery came with adhesive on it, and it is touching the wireless charger. Can that cause this issue?

You need to check the area surrounding the battery connector for possible pry damage. There are two square MOSFET’s (see blue highlights in the picture below) that communicate the charge status to the CPU. If they are damaged or missing, this could cause the symptoms you see.

Look for anything else that could be problematic, like damaged flexes etc. You could always try going bare board to eliminate as many variables as possible. Otherwise, it is possible that the charge circuit was damaged (Tigris/Tristar).

If I had to guess, could be a bad battery. More likely, it’s something to do with either the Charge IC Chip or the whole charging port itself. If you have access to another charging port I would try that. Sometimes you can get away with just disconnecting and reconnecting the charge port. We’ve seen that work before.
