Screen Upgrade (Higher Resolution LCD) for ASUS A555LB Laptop

Hi!

This probably won’t elicit a definite answer since this is about a specific part replacement, but I am still interested in your views or opinions (and why so).

I have a ASUS A555LB-XX410T laptop with a burnout spotty screen with the following specs: Screen Size 15.6 inch, Back Light LED, Connectors 40 Pin Socket, Resolutions & Inch 1366 x 768 (HD). This is the stock screen.

I am thinking of replacing it by ordering a different higher res screen ( FHD 2K 1920x1080 ) (pic below) with same dimensions and no. of pin connectors.

Question: will this work or will it be money gone down the drain?

Thanks!

Unless the video card / GPU / chipset supports it, waste of money.

Update (02/01/2020)

Reading online I found both the 940M and Intel 5500 supports 3840 x 2160 so you should be good to go with an upgrade, all else being equal (like you said, power, video connectors, etc).

This laptop 15.6" at 1366 x 768 pixels (stock) with 5th gen Intel® Core™ i5 has the following: NGeForce® GT 940M and the onboard Intel HD Graphics 5500.

Do you think this is possible?
