Original Apple Watch fixed but adhesive isn’t holding screen

I have my Apple Watch working again. But the adhesive isn’t sticking. I followed the directions and applied heat and wrapped it in rubber bands but the screen is still coming up.

Any recommendations?

Thank you!

What did you use in the repair? The force touch adhesive gasket and precut adhesive are both possible alternatives for use in the replacement / repair process. Did you use any of those? Heat is usually used to weaken/loosen adhesive not to strengthen a bond.

I used the force touch adhesive gasket.

Ok. I had not read that original ifixit screen replacement guide which I see recommended heat and rubber bands. If you followed the guide then be sure that you also made sure to meticulously remove all traces of leftover adhesive / gasket from all around the gasket and screen seating surface of the watch using a little bit of alcohol. Good luck!

I had the same problem on a series 2 and found the battery had swollen and wouldn’t let the screen sit down properly. I replaced the battery and all was fine.
