Why are colors missing from half my screen?

Backstory:

Recently got a samsung TV used, it’s a UN50JU7100fxza. When I first plugged it in I got no response at all other than clicking from the speakers (not from the power board relay). There was no discernible damage to the outside and I had carried it very carefully. I lay the tv down and disassembled it, then looked over the various boards for obvious damage. Nothing. Then I checked the connections with a multimeter. Nothing unusual, although I couldn’t find schematics for the boards online. I cleaned all the ribbon cables with acetone and tried that as well, which didn’t help either. This made me think it was a panel issue, so I uncovered the driver board for the panel and finally found a problem.

The Damage:

Looking at the TV, the right most TAB cable connecting the driver board to the panel had a burn mark in place of one of the traces. When plugged it in, this connection sparked, indicating some sort of short. The TAB cable was covered in some brown goop, evidently pushed down into the bezel while cleaning the screen by the previous owner. The included picture shows the brunt trace as well as the goop that likely damaged the tab and caused the short. I cleaned it up with acetone (on both sides, since both sides were similarly grimy) then covered it with electrical tape to prevent more shorting. When I put the TV back together the picture returned, with some expected vertical banding in line with the damaged trace, and some very odd missing colors (see included image). The only other case of this I have found that looks remotely similar is this post here: TV LED screen suddenly dark and discolored on one side

The Challenge:

I don’t expect to be able to fix the vertical lines on the far left, which are definitely a result of the burnt trace. I also don’t have the equipment to replace the COF tab, and the vertical lines aren’t really detrimental to the usage of the TV. I would, however, like to see if I can bring back the missing colors on the left side. I don’t believe this defect is indicative of TAB damage, and am wondering if replacing the TCON board would possibly resolve this. It looks as if the left half of the panel slowly loses its ability to reproduce colors as it moves to the left. Although it doesn’t seem to have as much trouble with black and white (or the inverted primary colors, magenta, cyan, and yellow), it turns all other colors to black. This half of the screen is now also a bit darker than the other, though I am fairly certain it isn’t a backlight issue, since the screen appears uniformly lit when all but the backlight is unplugged. I can get a TCON board for 10 dollars or so, but if this is a lost cause I don’t want to waste any more time with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am interested in learning more about the technology behind these screens if anyone has any input.

@newpatrol okay so you know you cant fix the vertical line. That is great. As for the color it “could” be the T-con board as well as the panel itself (LCD driver). I’d start with the T-con board. Let us know what you find out
