Panasonic VIERA TC-P42GT25 Plasma TV will NOT turn on. No red light

I have a Panasonic Viera 42 inch plasma.

The problem first started while the TV was on. The remote was not working properly. I would press things on the remote and it would just mute the or unmute the tv. So I turned the TV off and now it will not turn back on. NO blinking red lights. It will just do a clicking sound if I hold the power button so there is some power registering somewhere.

Update (12/27/2019)

There is no red light at all. I get no blinking for a diagnoses. Only some clicking if I hold the power button.

I tried a different surge protector.

The problem started with the TV ON. Remote going haywire and tv just muting and umuting.

Turned the TV off. Turned it back on and broken.

Update (12/27/2019)

I plugged it in wall and it works again! Kind of. Now it’s glitching again. The buttons on the TV don’t work and the buttons on the remote just mute and unmute the tv. Can’t get into the menu. Which part is fried?

I GOT IT WORKING!!!! Was able to get into the menu with a different remote and do a factory reset. Now the buttons on the side of the TV and everything else works normally again. What a crazy bug!

@jayeff Thankfully I was able to get into the menu with a different universal remote I never use (cant believe I had that on hand) and do a factory reset. After the factory reset everything works normal and the buttons on the side of the TV work again.

Looks like I somehow bugged my TV. That was crazy! thanks for your help!

Hi,

Bit confused here.

Do you mean that there is no red light at all or there is a red light that is not blinking?

Which power button are you talking about, the TV power button or the remote control power button?

If the remote control, have you tried the TV power button?

If there is no red light was there a storm or power outage just before the TV failed?

Have you checked that the power outlet that the TV is connected to is working OK? Try plugging in another appliance e.g. hair dryer to make sure it works

If the TV is connected to a powerboard (powerstrip?), try connecting it directly to the wall outlet and see if it shows that power is connected and that it turns on

If the power at the wall outlet is OK, (does the TV’s power cord look OK no sharp kinks etc?) here’s an image of the No Power troubleshooting flowchart, taken from the service manual that shows what to check in the event of a no power situation in the TV.

Hi,

Can't say where the problem is you'll just have to work your way through it.

If you have a DMM use it to check all the fuses etc on the P board as shown on the flowchart.

If they're all OK check the A board for any obvious problems and if none use the schematic in the service manual to check the voltages on the P board and the A board
