The Nintendo Switch is a handheld game console that can be played on the TV via a docking station, or on the go. Released March 3rd, 2017.

Hardware differences between the Switch v1 and v2?

what hardware differences are there between the v1 Switch and the newly refreshed v2 switch? Are they still using the same motherboards and are the displays compatible with each other? I am looking at repairing some broken Switches and need to know if parts can be swapped between revisions or if this is not possible. The ore detail the better and any help is greatly appreciated!

The boards are not the same since the v2 has a newer SoC revision. Also the battery is a bit larger in capacity. Regarding the screen, I don’t think they have any reason to change the design.

Can a V2 mother board install as a replacement for a v1 motherboard. In other words, are all the other parts compatible?

The battery is exactly the same. The longer play time comes from shrunk chips…
