Phone shorts out 5V lines on the USB connector, attempts to melt cable

Recently my Stylo has been through the ringer; dropped, had water near it, etc.

I come back from a 6 hour trip to the city, and the phone’s flat dead with no signs of life. I plug it into the charger, and it lights up for 5 seconds and then cuts off with a pop. I soon discover that it shorts out the 5V lines on any USB cable connected; it’s attempted to melt a cable of mine when connected to a high power 5V output source. Could anyone attempt to repair this device in it’s known condition of trying to melt a USB cable?

@devzero number one suspect would be the micro usb port. You’d need to disassemble your phone and take a look at the port and soldering itself. LG Stylo 3 Plus Motherboard Replacement

Replacing the charge port would be a decent idea, however I don't exactly want to hold on for this device any longer. Given that when I plugged it in it stayed on for like 5 seconds then just died, I'm putting my bets on some other hardware located further down the chain. Will try and attach photos.
