Screen goes all red, then green, then blue

I opened my MBP last night to find that the screen was alternating between all red, then all green, then all blue, then all grey then vertical bars and continually repeating that pattern. I rebooted it and got the same result. I hear the start up tone but there’s nothing on the screen but the solid colors or vertical bars. Any ideas? Thanks if advance,,

Sounds like graphics said goodbye cruel world..but plug your Mac to a TV or to an external monitor to make sure. If the issue disappears it’s just a bad screen..if it’s there externally too board can be trashed.

When I plug into the TV I get a nightmarish collage of red, green and blue, but not the same pattern that shows on the computer screen.

When you say board do you mean the logic board or a graphics card?

by

@shadyapex There's no real difference as graphics are integrated in the CPU and firmly soldered to the logic board. Board has gone for good, you'd have to replace it if you want to keep your Mac.

Thanks for the clarification, Fooey!
