Where is the processor located on the motherboard?

there are great guides for the ssd and ram for the yoga 710-14ikb. but there isnt one for the processor and I wanted to get an idea of how hard itll be to swap out my i5 for a better one before I buy the new one. I saw one of the other questions answers said you cant change it.? even if I got a new motherboard or was very carful? any help would be great especially pictures. thanks

Hi,

You can’t change the CPU as it is mounted onto the systemboard, so you will have to change the systemboard.

Scroll to p.45 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the systemboard

If you go to p.69 Item #4 you will find the part numbers (FRU) for all the various systemboards, having either i5 or i7 CPUs, that are available in the model range.

You may have to ensure if you decide to do this that other removable components from your systemboard will work with the new systembard, the RAM modules for example.
