The screen was not hit hard, but the repair center said the screen was

My XS MAX didn't break.

Also, in my memory, there was no strong shock.

But suddenly there was a problem with the screen.

1) There are vertical lines on the screen.

2) There is a part that does not touch the screen.

(Typically slide to power off)

The repair center says the iPhone's glass is not broken, but the iPhone is damaged and the screen is damaged.

What do you think? I do not know how to understand these issues.

The fact that the glass isn’t broken doesn’t necessary imply the screen is fine as a whole. From the picture and description you enclosed it seems the shop is right, looks like the display is damaged indeed and needs to be replaced. As far as the iPhone itself, it’s hard to say anything until it will be tested with a known good display.
