back cover won't lift up

I purchased the battery replacement kit. I followed the steps to heat up the phone so the cover will lift. I used the iOpener and that didn’t work. I tried my heat gun and that didn’t work either. I even out of desperation used a sharp exato knife to see if I could get a slight movement but only cracked the cover. Help, why won’t the case let go like all the YouTube videos show .

Answer this question I have this problem too

Samsung glues their glass backs onto their phones quite tightly, removing it takes a fair amount of heat and a LOT of patience.

Now that your back cover is cracked it will be difficult to remove it without worsening the damage, but the best way to go about it is to use a heat gun to heat the outer edge of the rear glass until it is just too hot to touch. Then you’ll want to slip something very thin between the frame and the glass. If you ever are getting lots of resistance, stop and reheat the phone. Once you have your thin object underneath the glass all you’ll do is work it around the edge of the phone until you’ve gone all the way around. At this point the glass should easily come off. Don’t forget to reapply heat when necessary (you may have to reheat it several times).

Hope this helps!
