Not able to send text messages from my Iphone 3gs though i can receive.
I have tried sending messages with other phone and i was able to send.
It goes to 90% and then stops. Also, "my number" in settings->phone->my number, shows unknown and is greyed out.
please help

Have you manually edited your APN settings? Is your device jailbroken? If your device isn't jailbroken then a restore is the only way to resolve this. If it is jailbroken, use an app like Tether Me to edit your APN settings to the most current carrier settings. You can google to find the current APN carrier settings.

Might want to take it to Apple if you sprung for the protection plan.
Hard reset it? Hold down power and home button until it resets. Clear dust from sim card slot? Could be any number of things.

I had the same problem and could solve it right now.
My wife using also an iPhone 4 like me didn't receive any message from me (neither iMessage not SMS).
- Switched time zone automatic off/on
- Switched iMessage off/on again. Verified phone number and e-mail-address
