iPad Air 2 new screen

Im installing a new screen to my iPad but it won’t turn on, I haven’t installed the sleep/wake sensor yet. Is it possible that’s the reason why it won’t turn on? I can hear the charging noise when I plug it to see if it was working

Sleep/wake sensor on the iPad is just used by the covers supporting the function, thus no, that’s not the reason why the screen doesn’t turn on.

So does this mean the screen I got is defective?

@Jose Not necessarily, it might be the the board itself too, hard to tell without further testing. If your older screen is still somehow functional I'd suggest trying that one as well.

OP try holding the power button and see if you can get the screen to display the power off prompt.

Otherwise try press and hold the power and home button for 10 seconds then try to turn the iPad on and see if that helps.
