EeeBook wont boot, not even to BIOS

My EeBook turns on (the screen backlight is visible) but everything else remains black. There is no bootscreen and no BIOS. Multiple attempts at restarting or holding the power button down for longer periods of time give no reliable results.

Trying to enter BIOS with F2 (and many other buttons includings Esc, F8, F10, F11, F12) all yield no results.

Sporadically after many attempts the Laptop does sometimes turn on.

Even though this problem occurs both when plugged in and out, my theory is that this is related to a dying battery.

Any solutions or similar experiences?

Firstly try to disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and SD media cards.

Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain all residual power and restore default startup settings.

Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not insert the battery), press the Power button, look for glowing lights near the caps lock and num lock keys, and listen for sounds of a fan or other moving parts turning.

If the computer starts normally after performing a hard reset, you are done troubleshooting.

You can also make a Windows boot media, boot off that, delete all partitions off your drive, start the setup.

Thanks for the quick reply! I was hoping to avoid the hard reset option since the battery is non-removable on this laptop. Also the computer sporadically does end up starting (although this takes a long time and many attempts). I guess I'll have to do a hard reset then.

Thanks for the help. I'll post an update if the hard reset works.
