ignition problems need help
My starter stays on after car starts
Is this a good question?
James Clark could be bad wiring to the starter, stuck starter solenoid, a bad ignition lock cylinder that keeps the actually ignition switch in the START position as well as a few other things. I’d start with jiggling the ignition lock a couple times in different directions etc. to see if that fixes it (unless you can get to the harness and “hotwire” it that way you bypass the lock totally;-) If that did not change anything, replace the starter/solenoid and see if that fixes it. Here is a schematic that should be identical to your system (depending on exact model/year).
Let us know what you find.

James Clark It seems that the starter solenoid contacts are sticking and not releasing the solenoid, as mentioned the return spring could be broken also.

Sounds like the Bendix spring is sticking.
Take it to a qualified mechanic for repair.
