Retrofit Thunderbolt on older MacBook Pros

Is it possible to install a Thunderbolt port onto an older Macbook pro that has a mini display port?

Even if you could buy a bad motherboard from a Thunderbolt MacBook pro, it won't work, all because the Thunderbolt MacBook Pro motherboards have a newer chipset, and a extra controller chip for the Thunderbolt port, so it requires a motherboard to do

A new motherboard is required for Thunderbolt, and that may even require additional new parts, like display assemblies and even palmrests too, unless you get lucky and everything is 1:1 and just drops in
