Retain data - Looping Apple Logo

Dropped iPhone 7 yesterday and compromised screen near home button. Immediately fell into looping reboot to flashing apple logo (most likely the damage home button?). Tried “Updating” via DFU mode in iTunes. Seems to install the update fine but boots to “Press Home Button to Restore” or simply stays in the booting reloop. I have two months of images that are not backed up. Am I mostly likely out of luck as far as retaining this data? I know that the screen and home button need to be replaced.

From your experiences, will any repair scenario potentially preserve the data without requiring a restore.

I do have iCloud backup enabled but in looking at storage usage online, it doesn’t seem like the images were being backed up since only 1.5GB is consumed by “backups” on iCloud.

Thank you for your insights.

You should be able to use your iCloud backup because it only stores the data from apps and settings, not the actual app.
