I would try resetting network settings in "settings/general/reset network" but I think in this case that it is the antenna that is the problem. If you look at the teardown it is a ridiculously fragile flex that is screwed down at it's weakest point. A drop is enough to tear it there.iPhone 3G Headphone Jack Replacement

There isn't a guide for the wifi antenna... it is hidden under the plastic shield on the rear case (beneath where your sim tray sits) it is connector 6 in any picture. To get to it you will need to remove the front panel/motherboard/power flex/headphone jack/sim flipper... you may be able to do the repair without taking out the volume and mute buttons but it's tricky. The wifi cover is part of the headphone jack holder. the plastic cover is only held with double sided adhesive and it's easy to reuse. Just notice that there are tiny plastic buttons to help guide you to where the antenna and it's cover sit. Good luck

Before you delve into the guts of your phone, you should try a couple things to diagnose the problem. First, I would make sure that you have the latest update. Connect to iTunes and check for more recent updates. Next, try using it on different wireless networks. It is possible that the problem is with your internet, not your phone.

If neither of these work, it is likely a hardware problem.
