Sony 6500 Base Damaged

The Base of my Sony 6500 was damaged in that a tripod screw broke inside the camera body and now the camera cannot be used on a tripod as the screw cannot be removed. Is it possible to have that bottom OR the complete outer camera replaced

I'm not sure how different the models are but here is a disassembly video of the A6000. Hope it helps!

Hey Douglas,

I had a similar thing happen with my a6000 a while ago. You could opt to replace the outer housing, but depending on how well the tripod screw is lodged, it could be removable with no disassembly. I covered the bottom with painting tape and made a hole in the tape where the screw is is. I then used a small bolt about the size of the hole, put a small dab of glue on it, and let it set. Once it set for a long time and hardened, I simply twisted it out.

Hope that works for you, best of luck!
