My envy 4500 gives the message --incompatble ink cartridge evenyhough

Error message incompatible ink cartridge - I’m using the correct HP cartridge.

I have the correct HP cartridge installed.

It sounds like there’s dirt on the contact strip in the printer - this will do it. What you need to do is take the carts out and clean the contact strip in the printer. For good measure, clean the ink carts to be sure.

Once you do that and if it persists, then it may be due to bad cartridges. While highly unlikely (but possible because HP uses a 100-240V SMPS), it could be from another region ESPECIALLY if the bad cartridge has a different number compared to the US/Canada versions (HP 61 for the 4500). The other red flag is if the number on the printer is 3 digits vs 2 - you have a region locked import. You will need genuine carts to fix this and HP will need to walk you through the process. I hope you saved the old carts if it’s a region issue… The cost to import the matching set is *always* more then buying a native machine.
