do I need an adhesive replacement

The Kindle HDX 7” uses adhesive to glue down the battery and the plastic upper bezel over the volume buttons and speakers. Once I remove that adhesive, what do I replace it with, or is it even necessary?

Thank you in advance for all help.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

crtrue, Steven Inman - Thank you both! Re-adhesion wasn’t touched upon in any guide I could find. Red tape seems to be the way to go here. crtrue, thanks for telling me the keywords!

Batteries should be adhered in some fashion to prevent them from jostling around inside the device and disconnecting their cables or, worse yet, damaging another part of the device. I'm not entirely sure about the bevel but if it was originally adhered, you'll want to try and get it back on in a similar fashion.

As for the adhesive, you have a few options. You can buy some jewelry glue like B-7000 and carefully apply it to the components that need to be adhered and just let it cure. Alternatively, you can use “the red tape" and just cut it to size (look on Amazon for “phone red tape" and find one about the thickness you need).

i would definitely use “the red tape” on a battery as well just to make sure you don’t end up with a battery cable or connector ripped off.
