Issue with keyboard keys not working after trackpad damage.

Hi there guys,

I’ve just ordered a new track pad cable and installed it. Unfortunately the same issue is happening.

About 20% of keys will not work. However if I fiddle with the trackpad connection and reinsert it different keys appear to work but then a whole bunch of others no longer function.

This is a brand new trackpad cable. Is it possible I damaged the logic board connection ? Is there a cheaper fix than having to replace the whole logic board?

Ive tried pram and all sorts. Any help will be greatly appreciatd.

Update (08/26/2019)

Is it possible for me to somehow replace the logic boards connection??

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Sound like we are focused on the wrong cable here. This series uses independent connections to the logic board as we can see here:

So is the keyboard connector on the logic board damaged in someway? Or is the keyboard it’s self damaged?

Thanks for your answer. So I disconnected the keyboard connection and tried to reconnect it hopes of fixing the issue. Now a whole bunch of different keys dont work.

The keyboard connection does look a little damaged. Can I replace the connection on the logic board?

If the connector is messed up you'll need to find someone with micro soldering skills and the needed part. This is beyond what one can do on their own.

where on earth can I find the part? Does ifixit sell this?

by

iFixit does not get into the component level parts like this.
