cleanser and lubricant for the fan

My Lenovo thinkpad X200 laptop is overheated and give me fan error when starting up. I want to clean it myself but not sure if I can use universal lubricant CRC 5-56 (mostly for auto) to clean the fan and the circuit.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

HI:

Do not ever spray any lub in the fan holes or the vent holes as it will ruin the motherboard or at the least have a place to collect more dust. If the fan turns then get a can of dust off or similar and start up the computer. Spray the dust off air in the fan to dislodge the dirt on the fins. Then go to the exhaust ports and blow the dust in back to the fan then quickly back to the fan and blow it now loosened out the vents. If the fan is not turnig then take to get a new fan installed. Further when using do not cover the fan opening or the ventsl Prop the laptop on a cookie sheet or similar to maintain air flow. Dont chance runnig the computer when the fan will not turn. The fan is worth $10 but the labor hevens know I charge $50 but it takes hours and unless it almost new $300 is not unheard of here at $80 pre hour. Good luck!!
