Block Image

I have attached a picture of the circuit board of a toy car that makes an engine sound when it works, I marked 3 components on it. Can you help me identify those and what they do?

It would help if you explained what you were trying to accomplish, as well as adding a photo of the reverse side of the board. Nonetheless, here are my thoughts:

  1. The black blob on the left is a micro-controller that is covered with an epoxy. This will not be a traditional IC with markings, it will literally be the silicon die. Not much you can with that.
  2. The metallic probe on the right appears to be some kind of connection or perhaps a switch. To what purpose…who knows. You should be able to figure that out by looking at the toy car it came with. It could be for some kind of switch to activate the sound.
  3. The blob in the middle is a solder joint. Again, without a picture of the reverse side, it’s hard to know exactly what it’s purpose is. I suspect it is a third anchor point for the metallic probe on the right.
