TouchID cannot be initialized after battery replacement

I have replaced the battery on my 6s Plus by following instructions. After powering on the device, there is a message that TouchID cannot be initialized. Home button works fine. Front and back camera do work fine. Everything looks fine except that TouchID cannot be activated. There was no display replacement, just a battery.

I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, reboot several times, “Reset All Settings” and nothing worked. I have inspected all the cables and connectors for damage - none was found. The only thing I have not tried is to wipe out my phone and restore from the backup.

Any suggestions on how to proceed with debug?

Hi @alekm

Did you disconnect the screen assembly before replacing the battery? If so, there is most likely some issue with the connections there. Try disconnecting, cleaning them with a brush, and inspecting them for bent pins or any sort of small damage. Hopefully a quick reconnect will fix your issue!

Thank you Jeff. After detailed inspection, it looks like that a small flex cable from the digitizer is damaged. Now, I need to replace a digitizer :(.

For others that are replacing the battery; be very careful when you open up your phone and do not bend flat cables unnecessary. They will break.
