Why is an error code of E1 showing up on the blue speedometer display?

My wife and I just purchased the Hover 1 - Journey electric riding scooter less than a week ago and while riding an error code showing “E1” shows up on the odometer display and then the scooter then proceeds to short out not allowing the scooter to accelerate. A similar error code of “E4” also occasionally shows up on the display as well. What does this mean? How can it be fixed and if so how do I go about returning a faulty product and get my money back?

Hi @bouieboi ,

If you bought it today take it back and get it replaced or a refund.

Buyers shouldn't have to fix products within the warranty period. That's what warranties are for.

the reason why it says E1 cause ur motor has failed motor failure, you either have to put a new motor or buy a new scooter

the reason why it says E1 cause ur motor has failed motor failure, you either have to put a new motor or buy a new scooter/the reason it says E2 you have to replace your accelerator/the reason it says E3 your motor is blocked and need to release the accelerator./the reason it says E4 because you scooter is overheated and need to let it cool for at least a minute./ The reason it says E6 because controller / instrument communication has failed and it needs to be replaced./The reason it says E7 the battery is over voltage protection and it needs to be replaced./the reason it says E8 is because your controller has an error and it needs to be replaced./ The reason it says E9 because you have brake failure and your break needs to be replaced.

@s4yfg I think that E5 is prohibited riding surface, if it detect conditions that it isn't designed to handle, or maybe overheated on some models.

The E1 fault code is indeed a motor fault. However not all is lost. You don't necessarily have to but a new motor or scooter. If you check the motor itself it could just be a loose connection or loose wire. If so then just solder it back on or use a glue gun.

Basically check that before buying a motor or an engine, save you some money.

I had the same thing happen on my Hover-1 Journey the first time I turned it on. I contacted Hover-1 support, and they said the E1 error code means there is a “motor hall failure” and that I should return it for a replacement. Fortunately I am within the 14 day return period for Best Buy so I am returning it to them.

E1 or E01 usually means a wiring connection issues or throttle issues. I bought a Reid E4 that the old owner had stacked it then it all of a sudden came up with E01 on display and wouldn’t run, it would still turn on just no go. I bought it real cheap thinking I may had to replace everything on it, but 5 mins after buying it I had it going and rode it home. Was just an issue with brake sensor from when old owner crashed it

Not all is lost for those getting E1 error codes I've got it 3 times and i just flick the throttle once and all is back to normal. I've a 2 years old Razor T25 and have no issues whatsoever thankfully I did panic first time I saw E1 but for me and i hope many other people like i said just flick the throttle and that works perfectly for me.

I plugged mine in and left it after it said E4 on the screen and came back and it worked again.

Try turning it off and then wait a minute then turn it back on and try it a couple more times.

Hey i would look online for a good price but be careful you are not going to get scammed .

The best solution is to email whoever make you're Hover 1 and get a new motor from them (safest option to)

So my says e001 and idk what the issue is it turns on and everything and I try to throttle it and still nothing what could be the issue I even have images of the bike too which is a modded razor rambler with a 48v setup ?

I am not sure what the code is on the display but ours will shut off and beep 7 times . I think it is a loose connection at the battery but I have tried to tighten it several times and the same . I might try put a long threaded rod in with a nut on the bottom and top and then the bracket with a washer and nut or if I could use a knob like it there would be better and then tighten it down.

We did not ride it very far and it shut down. So this morning tried it again and it is fine.

I called the 888 571 2845 and left a message

any ideas.

Stupid hover 1 alpha scooter I turn it on it says E1 and just beeps constantly super loud!!! Can't get it to stop beeping unless I shut it back off
