Anyone else have a problem with the video cutting off after 5 sec?

Video keeps auto-turning off after about 5 seconds. Every video. No idea what’s causing it. Even tried a new battery and still the same problem.

Hi,

a). What is the speed class of the inserted memory card?

The speed class is shown as a number in a circle on the front of the SD Card

If you have a slow speed class memory card (<10 as shown on the card) you may have problems with recording videos, especially if you have selected an image size and frame rate greater than what the SD card can comfortably handle and the camera’s internal buffer memory starts to fill up too quickly.

Try adjusting ‘down” the image size to suit the speed class of the SD Card that is in the camera before recording a video and check if this resolves the problem. See p.131 of the user manual

(see image below for speed class in relation to video recording)

This image is taken from the user manual , it details what happens if the SD Card cannot keep up and the buffer gets too full

b). Is there enough storage space left on the SD Card to record videos of more than 5 seconds duration, (depending on image rate and frame size), you didn’t say?
