Battery health of newly installed battery already 90% after 1 cycle

I just installed a new battery that I ordered from iFixit, everything went well during installation.

After installing the battery I went through the process of calibrating it. First I left it charging over night. the next day I started my MacBook Pro and I depleted it with normal use, during this I checked my battery health and it said 102% so I thought that’s great! at around 10% it suddenly turned off.

I left it off for more than 5 hours. after that I plugged the charger in and turned on my MacBook Pro again, I checked the battery health and it said 88%, so I thought that was strange.

I charged it over night again and when I checked in the morning it said 91% and that’s what it’s at right now.

Can anybody tell me if this is normal? Should I ask for a replacement?

Answer this question I have this problem too

It does take awhile for the SMC to settle in so I would wait. Remember you have a warranty on the battery for a full year!

Thanks for your reply! I sent an email to IFixit and got pretty much the same answer as you just gave, so I'll just wait and see what happens. hopefully it will fix itself!
