Won’t turn on, red light flashes 6 times

My Samsung UN60H6350AF tv just wouldn’t turn on one day. The red light blinks 6 times then stops. There is no sound or picture. My condo does have questionable electricity with possible power surges. I tried to unplug it, hold the power button, wait for a few minutes, then power back on but nothing happened. I have unplugged all other cables from the tv. I think I’m going to need to open it up but need repair/troubleshooting guidance and tips for safety.

@ryguy19 yup, time to open it up. This could be a power board or main board issue. since you have no audio or video it is unlikely that this is a bad backlight array. Once open, check the power board connector to the main board for the proper voltages (all are DC) let us know what you find. Samsung does not use post blink codes but this could be a main board issue. Once apart, take a few good pictures and post those with your question so we can see what you see Adding images to an existing question

How exactly do I check the power board connector to the main board for the proper voltages? Sorry I’m new to all of this.

Once you have your back open post some good pictures of your boards. I will mark where to measure and what voltages to expect. you will need to get/have a multimeter.

by

Ok, I used the multimeter to measure the voltages on the power board. Here is the key and the voltages I measured:

2. UD (2.28v) 1. A13 V (12.82v)

4. BLU_ON (3.26v) 3. A13 V (12.82v)

6. PS_ON (4.46v) 5. A13 V (12.82v)

8. GND (0v) 7. A13 V (12.82v)

10. GND (0v) 9. GND (0v)

Those look to be okay. Sounds like your power board is ok which would leave the mainboard as the culprit. Disconnect the wire from the power board to the main board. See if your backlight comes on

No backlight when I unplug the wire from the power board to the main board. However, with the cord plugged in I see the red light for the digital audio out(optical) is on (on the main board)and there are 3 blue lights on the T-con board that are on. Does this mean I’m getting power to those two boards? @oldturkey03
